Three-dimensional spiral wave in the Belousov-Zhabotinsky (BZ) reaction. The vortex rotates around the entire length of an inert O-ring-shaped obstacle (dark black in video). Accordingly, waves are sent inwards and outwards in an alternating fashion. Interestingly, free scroll rings in this system collapse and vanish in finite time, while the pinned ones are stable.
