About the song:
This is the main theme of Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, composed by Kenji Kawai. He is one of the masters of soundtracks whose other famous works include Fate/stay night (OP1 & music), Ghost in the Shell (music), Higashi no Eden (music), Ranma 1/2 (music), and one of my favorite films, Ip Man (music).
Higurashi no Naku Koro ni is the anime which made me like the horror / thriller genre, and the soundtracks really set the vibe, theyre genius. The main theme in particular sounds creepy, unsettling, as if youre all alone in a dark area far away from everyone else, losing your sanity with each passing second.
About the cover:
All the sounds you hear in this video are entirely generated by the Roland RD-800 sound engine, I didnt use VST. The sounds were recorded in WAV 16-bit directly into the USB, which was then mixed in VEGAS. This theme really caught my attention and Ive been wanting to cover it for quite some time.
This is my first attempt at a horror soundtrack and is my most complex project to date with a total of 72 audio & video tracks and 13 different camera angles. This passed my previous record which is the orchestral cover of Koe no Katachis lit(var) at 52 audio & video tracks, taking two full days to finish.

ANIMA is the 4th single by ReoNa, used as the opening theme of Sword Art Online: Alicization - War of Underworld Part 2 / Season 2.
This is probably the best opening theme of 2020, also one of the most difficult arrangement Ive done this year so far. The song has a sense of rush, and the key signature changes / transpose between verse and chorus definitely caught my attention. Its one of the charm points of the song.
Im particularly proud of the title animation, its so simple yet thats probably how youd picture it if it were a moving image.

I listened to Marasys piano arrangement for the song at a glance in late 2012. But just three days before this video is uploaded, after re-listening to it a couple times, it left a really deep impression and I was urged to make my own version of the arrangement. Its been a while since any song gave that kind of impact on me, and thats a really good feeling.
This song is possibly part of my next major project as Im continuing to arrange the full version and will continue to master until its polished enough to have its own video. In the meantime, this is the shorter arrangement which can also be a sort of preview to the full version Im working on, and Ill be doing some regular projects which Ive already planned prior to making the full version video.
There are a total of 4 different camera angles, and I tried eliminating the fade transition between angles. This might just be the closest thing to a music video Ive done. Feel free to leave a feedback in the comments section below!

Piano + String cover of Date 2, making it really similar to the original song. Unlike traditional layering of two sounds, the string serves as the background on chorus, not a copy of whats played on the piano track. Im in Bandung for a couple days and had just enough time to film this. This transcription is much more accurate than my piano-only cover, and is played at a constant 114 BPM.
This soundtrack is... I dont know, its slow and subtle, but powerful enough to have its own identity. It gives me shivers when listening to it and remembering the movie. The effect it has is similar to Nagisas theme from Clannad.
The video has two angles and two layers. The top layer is for the string, masking the piano layer underneath. Ive done a similar effect before with Minami-ke OP, but with more advanced masking method.

This is the third Grand Piano Edition Cover, with more coming very soon. The audio was recorded at ArtSound Studio Jakarta, mixed and edited by myself.
This song is one of my new all-time favorites. Listened to it for the first time from Logical Emotions cover, a musical group consisting of Marasy, tabclear, and drm. The song itself doesnt sound sad at first, but when I listened on repeat when working on assignments a few months ago, it gradually feels depressing. Looked up the lyrics and it turns out that it is indeed a depressing and relatable song about a girl who feels like being the puppet clown of her boyfriend. She holds on to him to the point where she feels like breaking and finally gives up.
This is my arrangement in its entirety with small cues and details added from Logical Emotion and Marasys cover.
