In their first meeting, just over the middleweight limit, both men fight with the intent of punching their way to Marvin Hagler. Venezuelan Olympian Obelmejias had already fought Hagler for the World middleweight championship, and Park was so disgruntled at never getting his shot he went on to establish himself as one of the premier super middleweights when the division was still in his infancy.
Here he shows why he never got his shot at Hagler's crown; quick to punch himself out at the beginning of the rounds, he sporadically put his shots together well enough to fluster Obel, but cannot pace himself or get in range enough. Obel boxes well enough and punches hard, eventually beating the Korean down.
Park showed himself a good fighter up at 12 stone, but Fully Obel returned again to take his title from him. Obelmejias also lost via devastating K.O in his second attempt to wrest Hagler's crown from him
