Welcome to this first destination instalment from my journey around the Islands of Okinawa as I document this truly stunning location.

Fukugawa Waterfalls are one of the core features and attractions on the main island of Okinawa. Frequented due to their relatively short journey on foot into the green expanse of the jungles of the Yanbaru they are magnificent in their aesthetic. In this video I journey to the seldom visited second set of waterfalls that requires about an hour of bushwhacking and river walking in order to reach. Almost guaranteed of being the sole visitor, especially during a week day, I immersed myself in the green with an accompanying soundtrack that only Mother Nature could provide.

My goal in this video is to accomplish a shot of the upper falls using a wide angle lens in order to fully illustrate the immediate vicinity of the waterfall itself. For this I used a 15mm f2.4 super wide angle lens from Irix and a Soft Graduated Neutral Density 0.9 from KANI. In order to further add to the aesthetic of the image I employed the use of a solid KANI ND1000 Filter to reduce by ten stops the amount of light entering the lens. This then resulted in my having to employ a long shutter technique to gain the shot. Check out the video to see how I fared.
