Have you ever wondered how kubectl and kustomize enhancements are designed and built? Curious why your favorite feature request wasn't accepted?
In this session, the SIG CLI maintainers will first provide an introduction to developing kubectl and kustomize commands. We will discuss conventions and patterns focused on usability, consistency, and testability. We will then dive into kubectl and kustomize command internals by walking through existing command structure. We will cover effective use of client-go (the library that powers communication with the Kubernetes API server) and other essential libraries for building versatile commands. We'll also share tips on how to best engage with the SIG CLI community, where to ask questions, and how to turn a one-time contribution into an ongoing role in the project.
