I went skiing on Mt. Hood in the middle of July using brand-new RVL8 skiboards, modified snowboard bindings, and a pair of $60 used boots. After nearly two years away from skiboarding, it was time to find out whether this unusual soft-boot setup actually works...

A few hours later, I traded the snow for 95-degree heat, a remote campsite in southeast Oregon, and a massive dry lake bed. From summer skiing to desert truck camping in the Rossmönster, this turned into one my favorite Oregon travel days yet.
