Bush ignited the power of service by recognizing over 1,000 volunteers as “points of light.” He championed the belief that when “a neighbor helps a neighbor,” extraordinary change is possible—and that vision has inspired millions to step up and say, “I can help.”
Since then, Points of Light has built an ecosystem of individuals, NGOs, companies and social impact leaders, working together to build healthier, more equitable communities in 32 countries.
As we celebrate #35YearsofLight, we recognize the need for volunteering has never been more urgent—for individuals, communities and society. Throughout this milestone year, we honor the enduring legacy of those who have stepped up to serve and look ahead with hope and purpose, inspiring even more people to take action and make a difference.
