Dan and me wanted to get the Amtrak 967 special from Chicago to Galesburg, but we got such an early start on the day that we figured we could go to Joliet and see the special. We were sorta wrong on that, although if I had made two of the red lights I got we would have been fine, maybe even had a half minute to spare. We stayed at Lisle for a little while, got nothing, and then he had to go home. I went home, got some biking in, then got word that the special was coming back east, so I biked to MP 26, but to my disappointment BNSF's "Z STPCHC" was stopped at the "new" holding point, so as I started biking toward the station I head the P40, not P42, rounding the curve. I stopped quick, got the video camera out, and started recording. After a metra and a coal drag Amtrak 3 came flying west with a nice crew. Under the impression that Amtrak 383 would have a Dash 8 on the point, I waited the train out at a new spot in Lisle, but of course it was Amtrak 17 that was on the train. Disappointed, I biked home solemnly and started to make plans with my girlfriend. I forgot that she was at work, so I chilled at home. Colin called me up, both him and Larry caught the train at Montgomery, but they got a heads up that UP 1983 and UP 2001 were departing Proviso west. Thanks to Larry for picking me up! We drove to Glen Ellyn right when the Taste ended. After a little waiting and a little bitching, UP 1983 and 2001 came through on the longest bare table I've ever seen. Really nice crew for this train too.
