Spellers from 32 schools across Durham and Orange counties gathered at Duke University to compete in the Regional Spelling Bee, hosted by Duke Community Affairs.
Students from Durham Public Schools, Chapel HillโCarrboro City Schools, and Orange County Schools put their vocabulary to the test for a chance to advance to the @ScrippsNationalSpellingBee.
Three finalists earned medals, and one champion will represent the region on the national stageโwith $1,500 in travel support from Duke Community Affairs.
Now in its 10th year, the Duke Regional Spelling Bee celebrates academic excellence and Dukeโs commitment to supporting education and lifelong learning across the community.
