Taking place immediately after the United Nations High-Level Meeting on Non-Communicable Diseases (HLM on NCDs), this session reflects on the outcomes of the meeting and assesses the political commitments made to strengthen global NCD prevention and control. As countries confront shifting donor priorities, constrained resources, and evolving global health agendas, the need for concrete action, integrated strategies, and people-centered approaches has never been more urgent.
This World Health Summit 2025 session – co-hosted by the NCD Alliance and Sanofi – explored how commitments made at the HLM could be translated into national and regional action to advance equitable access to prevention, treatment, and care. The discussion was moderated by Katie Dain (NCD Alliance). It focused on how integrated responses could be implemented across diverse health systems and how strengthened partnerships could enable sustainable progress.
The Speakers, Emmanuella Selasi Hormenoo (Diabetes Youth Care), Mohamed Yakub Janabi (WHO Regional Office for Africa), Jon Fairest (Sanofi), and Gerald Läzer (KfW Development Bank) brought perspectives from youth advocacy, global health, industry, and development finance. They explored innovative approaches that supported people-centered care, strengthened health systems, and ensured continuity of NCD services amid shifting global health and development priorities.
Looking beyond 2030, the conversation considered how NCDs could be elevated within future global health frameworks beyond the Sustainable Development Goals. It emphasized the importance of long-term accountability and sustained investment in NCD prevention and control.
