I set out to write a waltz and wound up with this mix of 3/4 (sometimes played 6/8), 4/4 and 5/4 time signatures. The original waltz comes in at 2:03. For the guitar solo at 6:23, I scaled back the melody and played two chords for a couple of minutes, gradually layering 11 different guitar tracks (I had 12 but that was one too many).
