One of the more impressive workbenchs FreeCAD has to offer is the FEM Workbench. The FEM Workbench allows us to analyze various forces on our designs.
In this tutorial I demonstrate how to get your first result. The difficulty with the FEM workbench is that there a number of required steps that are non-obvious ( at least to us lesser mortals )
Some additonal resources are available at my crappy website:
Installing Calculix: mathcodeprint.com/calculix-install-2-11-1build1
Installing GSMH: mathcodeprint.com/gmsh-install-3-0-6
