Breathwork, especially in its more advanced and prolonged forms, can lead to specific physiological changes. It often triggers profound physical and emotional responses. As such, it's crucial to consider safety. Individuals with certain health conditions should either avoid breathwork sessions or seek advice from a medical professional or therapist beforehand.

Health Considerations for Breathwork:

Epilepsy: Due to the potential for intense physical and emotional responses, individuals with epilepsy are advised to consult with their doctor.
Eye Conditions: Those with a detached retina or glaucoma should avoid breathwork sessions.
Severe Osteoporosis: If active movement could pose a risk, participation in breathwork is not advised.
Uncontrolled High Blood Pressure: Individuals whose high blood pressure isn't managed with medication should consult with a healthcare provider.
Heart and Cardiovascular Issues: Anyone with cardiovascular diseases, irregular heart conditions, or a history of heart attacks should seek medical advice first.
Neurological Concerns: This includes a history of strokes, seizures, TIAs, or other brain-related conditions.
Family History of Aneurysms: If you or two immediate family members have had aneurysms, it's important to seek medical guidance.
Blood Thinning Medication: Those on medications like Coumadin must consult with a doctor.
Pregnancy: Breathwork is generally safe after the first trimester, but it's always best to consult with a healthcare provider.
Asthma: Participants with asthma may join but should keep an inhaler handy.
Psychiatric Considerations:

Bipolar Disorder or Schizophrenia: Individuals diagnosed with these conditions should seek advice from a health professional.
Recent Psychiatric Hospitalization: If you've been hospitalized for psychiatric reasons or had an emotional crisis in the last decade, consult with a healthcare provider.
PTSD: Those diagnosed with PTSD and experiencing strong symptoms must obtain approval from their therapist.
Other Conditions: If you have any medical, psychiatric, or physical condition that might impact your ability to engage in activities involving intense physical and emotional release, please consult a healthcare provider.

It's important to prioritize safety and ensure you are well-informed about your health status before participating in any breathwork session.
