Although I am very much a hobby pianist, the collection "Música callada" ("Silent music") by the Catalan composer Frederic Mompou (1893-1987) has left a deeper impression on me than most music I have played. Its twenty-eight intimate pieces, divided into three volumes, traverse a wide variety of emotions. The simplicity and clear harmonies of the very first piece make it one of my favorites in the whole cycle; Mompou's marking "Angelico" perfectly describes its atmosphere.

I am still working out some minor issues with my audio recorder, but I hope you enjoy the recording!
