3D renders of the famous Julia fractal based on the Mandelbrot set made with Blender's material shader nodes. I just finished playing the game P.O.L.L.E.N. and after the end sequence I somehow felt the urge to build a fractal in Blender, I have no explanation for that. ;)

Since recursive node trees are not supported in Blender I just duplicated the same node over and over, one per iteration. Yet it was easy to build since similar named sockets are automatically connected just by tapping the F key. The volumetrics are rendered with Cycles. I tried that also with Eevee in Blender 2.8 but the shader tree is too heavy so that it locks Blender up, hence there is no real-time volumetrics Julia for now.
