Foxes are among the most adaptable and widely distributed animals in the world, which in turn led to them being featured in countless stories from countless cultures, from the Ancient Celts, to the Ancient Japanese, to numerous Native American nations. The role of a mythical fox is, more often than not, a trickster, one who is never fully trustworthy. But there are almost as many examples of a fox acting as a figure of wisdom, of guidance, even as a god!
