Fortnite released a new LTM called Impossible Escape that completely changes how the game is played. It shows us what a survival version of fortnite would look like.
In this LTM: Players awake on the coast of an island and must explore to find weapons, loot, and a way to escape. Other players roam the map, you can either kill them or group up with them and escape together. There's a few broken down choppers across the map, You and others have to go to high up points and/or do tasks from certain NPCs to reveal the location of different chopper parts. Players must get and bring all parts back to the chopper to repair it, however both the parts and chopper themselves are guarded by enemy NPCs. As night falls, stronger enemies like wolves and ghosts spawn, making it hard to survive. Once the chopper is repaired, fuel it up and fly away. If you don't escape after the 3rd night, the storm will close in and kill anyone remaining.
There is a PVP and PVE versions of this mode, Completing the PVE version rewards you with a loading screen while completing the PVP version rewards you with an umbrella.
