Gotta be honest, I was not expecting Nintendo to actually take advantage of Star Fox in the Mario Galaxy Movie by making a new Star Fox game while the movie was being made. Well, technically, it's just the billionth remake of Star Fox 64, but at least the franchise wasn't abandoned after Zero. The new artstyle, which is modelled after the puppets used for the original game's marketing and box art... It's okay. The trailer and the cutscenes they showed off didn't do the characters any favors (especially Fox and Falco), but the render art actually looks quite decent. Still, I would have vastly prefered them using the designs from the Mario Galaxy Movie.
Part of me can't help but wonder if this is gonna be yet another case of this remake needing to meet or exceed sales expectations so we can get a game that advances the story rather than this franchise getting abandoned for another several years.
