Dayton Citizen Johnny Jackson, a former employee of NaphCare, the private company to which the Montgomery County Jail contracts out its medical services, broke a gag order to tell his side of the story about the work environment at the jail.

NaphCare, which no longer services prisons in its home state of Alabama, has a long history of litigation against it. NaphCare was one of the subjects of the book Dying Inside, The HIV/AIDS Ward at Limestone Prison, by Benjamin Fleury-Steiner with Carla Crowder (University of Michigan Press, 2008).
