SUB 29!!! I am so happy with this run and to finally reach my goal :D

It's been a long road since I first started speedrunning this. I remember trying to copy the strategies Luigi was using back then that blew me away how incredible they were and this was when the category was still glitchless and he had the world record. Then seeing Kaleva take the record once it started allowing glitches with an incredible sub 31 and then SBDWolf having a dominate display over the category after that for a long time and grabbing the first sub 30 and still the only sub 30 ever with the peashooter/spread route.

As I slowly kept improving my time over months and getting huge help from SBDWolf and others from the community, the lobber EX tech was discovered which involves blowing up a lobber EX on the ground right next to a boss rather than hitting them with it which for some strange reason does 2X damage and in certain cases, even more.

This made me interested in seeing if it was worth taking the time to do Forest Follies to get enough coins to buy both lobber and spread. When I first theorized the route with SBDWolf we figured the route would be about a 10 second time loss even with the new tech because Follies costed so much extra time.

At around that time my internet went down for a couple weeks due to bad weather and I spent most of that time just working hard to optimize every single boss with this new route I was creating. As more and more time saves were found I managed to push lobber/spread to the point it was even with peashooter/spread and it required less RNG for certain bosses making it a more consistent route in theory. Ribby and Beppi being the two that became way more consistent.

Certain fights were thought to be a time loss due to not being able to hit hidden hitboxes with peashooter EX's or due to losing the long range of peashooter which made phantom express seem like a time loss. As time went on though me and at this point with the help of others like Jason2890, XunningX, TheBridgyC, Justin1407 and especially SBDWolf managed to find ways around all of this to make these fights even faster with lobber/spread.

I then managed to finally get my own sub 30 and beat SBDWolf's time with a 29:23 giving me my first solo World Record in any speedrun which was a huge moment for me. I took a bit of a break from the route after this and SBDWolf came back, worked hard at the new route and beat my time with a 29:21 continuing to show why he is easily one of the best if not the best overall Cuphead player out there.

However, beyond all this and with pushing the category's strategies to its limits I decided to try and take the record back and I did so with a 29:10. At this point I knew a sub 29 was possible so I made it my goal to get it before the DLC came out and even if it didn't end up happening I wanted to try. While it took me a while to get I managed exactly a 29:00 minute run which was both exciting and soul crushing that I was so close to that sub 29 but I couldn't just give up on my goal even though it was only 0.6 seconds off what I needed to reach it.

Finally today on 2/21/19 I managed to do this run. From my first submitted time of 35:37, never did I think I would end up reaching something like this. It is just a game but I have truly loved it and it took a large amount of effort to reach this point so this run really means a lot to me.

The fact the Cuphead community was so welcoming, helpful and fun and the fact my own community remained so accepting of the fact that I was grinding so many hours on stream in this game and supported me through regardless of it, just means a lot to me too and I want to say thank you so much for everything. ♥

For anyone that read all this, thank you for your time and I hope you enjoy the run! This is the end of this category for me until DLC but I do plan on trying other categories out before then :D

Also for anyone that is interested in learning to speedrun the game, I made tutorials that can be found at this link along with all the resources you will need to get going pastebin.com/ekXcVFM3
