Twisting is one of the 5 fundamental techniques of blacksmithing along with drawing out, upsetting, cutting and punching. For a beginner blacksmith, twisting gives a "big bang for its buck" in terms of adding a lot of visual interest to a piece with a comparatively small amount of effort. The standard twist uses a square cross-section but when this square cross-section is manipulated a whole host of specialty twists are possible.

$Princess Leias Copper Bikini #blacksmith #blacksmithing In this video, I replicate Leias iconic Slave costume from Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back. Most of the components are made from copper sheet, cut out and hammered to shape using mostly embossing techniques. This is a collaboration with Teresa Fractale, A model, actress, singer, and butoh dancer. In addition to these skills, she is also very active in the design, layout and production of most of her endeavours. I am very pleased to have collaborated with her in this project.
