An aim has been to have a motor running on a shelf forever.
That could be via solar and a supercap for overnight or some other method. This C/Pb cell is a contender !
The lead weight was found on the roadside while out for a walk one day. The carbon is a thoroughly washed piece from a dead D sized battery.
The thinking with the LED, is that it makes a great check for any future problem with the power supply.
The same rotor type (levitated at the top by being held with magnets and sitting on an ex bathroom tile) has run in the past for 2 years without wear on the tile. The needle might wear down, will have to see !
