Obvious to some, and eye opener to myself, this is a crystal radio with the look of a little Slayer Exciter.
The station is only 450W, hardly a 'swamper' as may be expected for reception with no conventional aerial or ground. Others, such as KRMG in nearby Tulsa are 50,000W. Yet, KBIX comes through fine on a regular crystal radio earphone (made from the earpiece of a 1970's telephone handset).
The powered speaker was used for demonstration purposes.
