When a charged particle, such as an electron or a proton, is placed in an electric field, it experiences a force due to the interaction between its charge and the electric field. This force is known as the electric force or Coulomb force.
The direction of the force on the charge depends on the sign of the charge and the direction of the electric field. If the charge is positive, the force acts in the direction of the electric field. If the charge is negative, the force acts opposite to the direction of the electric field.
