Motion can be categorized based on how an object changes its position over time. The distinction between uniform and non-uniform motion is fundamental in understanding the nature of motion.

Uniform Motion
An object is in uniform motion if it covers equal distances in equal intervals of time, regardless of the duration of the interval.

Non-Uniform Motion
An object is in non-uniform motion if it covers unequal distances in equal intervals of time, or the direction of motion changes over time.
