Hey all!
A tool version available on my CGT:
cgtrader.com/3d-models/scripts-plugins/rendering/for-anime-adoration-sparkles-post-processing-nodegroup
This is such a fun little project. The LORD hasn't asked me to make new node groups in quite some time. This was one of the first in a while and I love how it turned out. Basically, I did the following:
- Make sure your depth info is correct and spread across the scene
- Slice up your scene and place cloud texture based points in each layer, progressively smaller and offset them accordingly, for a parallax effect.
- Add two glares (0' and 45') as well as an amplified soft blur of the points for extra glow.
- I added extra cloud textures for some fake Brownian noise, but the intensity was a bit low here. I used one of them to create the vignette along with a heavily blurred lens distortion node (NO CHROMATIC ABERRATION PEOPLE, PLEASE, LOL).
- Finally, just add a soft blur, so there's that surreal space feeling as well.
As you can tell, it's not complicated, but it is tricky to build (I used 4 layers), because your math has to be proportional and functional at any resolution.
Some adjustments I'd like:
- Less points - feels a bit busy
- More colored points - just adds to the surreal effect
- Stronger Brownian noise by default.
With this video, I'd like to challenge you guys to try and build this yourselves - especially if you're new to the compositor! Nothing like a proper challenge to get know the tools better. Feel free to use particles if you prefer - but I didn't, because I want this functional in any scene and "fadeable" without a duplicate render.
The point of dynamic:
I try to make everything I build for Blender Dynamic. Why? Because it means the computer bears much more of the workload. It makes it so so so so much faster and easier to complete an animation. You'll also notice no frame rate reduction happened here, yet it has the right vibe. Visual language! I strongly encourage dynamic building (for shaders, post or any other tools), because it helps so much down the line!!
The LORD also had me build a second node group, that is much simpler in nature, but I just don't feel like I got it just right yet.
I hope this made you smile, LOL. It certainly did me! I love this turn and slide thing some characters do when they think they're the best thing to ever walk the earth, hahaha!
GOD bless you! (^^,)
