Celebrating 70 years of service, Folsom Dam continues to play a critical role in California’s water management. Dedicated on May 5, 1956, the facility provides reliable water supply, flood protection for the Sacramento region, clean hydroelectric power, and recreation opportunities at Folsom Lake. For seven decades, Folsom Dam has supported the Central Valley Project and the communities that depend on it—demonstrating the long-term value of resilient, multipurpose infrastructure.
