Rae-Yen Song 宋瑞渊 is a Glasgow-based multidisciplinary artist whose practice spans sculpture, costume, installation and performance, rooted in ancestral mythologies, diasporic-futurism and interspecies kinship. For Folkestone Triennial 2025: How Lies the Land?, Song presents Song Dynasty ○○○○—a multi-headed textile creature inspired by ancient sea worms, pet fish, and family memory. Made with and for Song’s family, the work incorporates fabrics from Song’s grandmother and ceramics by Song’s parents. Suspended in air, the piece is a vessel of blessing, connection and protection, embodying the artist’s ongoing world-building practice and honouring more-than-human lineages across time.
