In the United States, the last Monday of the month of May is Memorial Day. This is the day we remember those members of the US military service who have died during their service.
Veteran's Day is the other day we remember all those who have served in the US military, and that is always November 11th.
The music that plays during the poem "In Flanders Fields" is "The Last Post" the UK equivalent of the US song "Taps" played at the end of the day and at funerals. "The Last Post" is appropriate here as John McCrae was Canadian.
