Traditional measurement methods often involve significant risks, such as worker exposure to varying radiation dose rates and physical hazards like falling from heights or manual handling during scaffolding setup. By utilizing the Elios 3 RAD, the EDF team was able to map complex zones in under 15 minutes, a task that typically requires several days of preparation and extensive post-processing.
The high-quality data captured by the drone was then integrated directly into virtual models, allowing contractors to prepare for site interventions with pinpoint accuracy while significantly reducing financial costs and schedule commitments. Ultimately, the Elios 3 RAD serves as a vital tool in the "best available techniques" for nuclear measurement, delivering superior efficiency, faster data acquisition, and enhanced safety for decommissioning professionals.
