HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMY!
I'm so excited to share this with you. I think it's the first time ever I have a video that you had no idea about, idea wise, song wise, anything wise.
I also wasn't expecting to make this either until a few weeks ago. When Sleeping At Last released this EP two weekends ago, I loved it, both the lyric and instrumental version. It clicked to make an FF GMV to it and I remembered all the Advent Children and Remake scene connections. I kept imagining it until I started editing. Cloud and Tifa were a perfect match for the storytelling. In my semi-retirement editing phase my video style has changed to quote heavy/live action style editing, but I enjoyed putting it together.. I hope I chose the right quotes.
It took everything not to tell you about the idea and share betas with you, so I'm happy to finally share. Hope you like, and cheers to another year of our friendship :) (Our next FF collab when?)

Shes amazing *_* In fact I think collabing with her improved my editing by a mile :D I tend to use less black flashes and more scene changes for beats now =D Although that kinda doesnt show on the collab xD
Ok so how this came about.. two months ago I asked if we could do a Kuro collab :D And so we chose this song ~ Im really glad we did as well. Cuz the song just fits SO much. We pretty much tried to show the whole series in this little collab =D &I think it turned out brilliant :D

Happy Birthday Amy!
Im so proud of myself, I finished this on the 14th and have put this up to premiere on the day.
This video was such a blast to edit, and Im so happy with the result.
This video idea has its origins from lockdown 2020, when Nathan Wagner released this gorgeous song. It took me a bit to connect it with How To Train Your Dragon, but back then Id never edited a full TRILOGY movie video and the thought of that was overwhelming.
Amy had also tried to edit it but we werent feeling it at the time. Id also asked if I could edit it instead, and Id brain noted the idea ever since. I couldnt forget such a perfect match.
I started re-watching the trilogy about four weeks ago, made notes of all the moments and quotes on my phone and started editing on Premiere. Phone notes are so useful~
I worked on this slowly since then. Also re-watching the movies gave me the tears and feels and it reminded me how much I love Hiccup and Toothless. T T Editing this slowly and mindfully reminded me how much I love editing too, sometimes I think about how much I appreciate having this hobby and being able to express my love for a show/series.
All in all I loved re-watching, re-appreciating and editing this trilogy video. It doesnt make complete narrative sense but there are enough videos out there that go through chronology haha. The last part of the video can be up to interpretation.. its either a memory of the past or embracing his dragon soul and becoming one with dragons. I like considering the latter as a fan-made ending :D
To Amy, I hope you enjoy this surprise as much as I enjoyed making it!! And I hope you have a great day (and start all the books I recommended ) ~
