St Augustine Alligator Farm Zoological Park is one of the premier workshop locations to photograph the Roseate Spoonbill in flight, on the nest, and with chicks. Opportunities for amazing photography abound. Roseate Spoonbills are some of the most unique birds on the planet. Don’t miss your chance to capture the rare beauty of these birds. We will also see and photograph wood stork, tricolored heron, great egret, snowy egret, cattle egret, little blue heron, and green heron.

Each day we will have early access to the park and we will be able to remain after the park closes to take advantage of the best light. Certain years there can be an astounding 800 nests in the rookery including lots of Roseate Spoonbill nests and other variety of birds the Wood Stork, Tricolored Heron, Great Egret, Snowy Egret, Cattle Egret, Little Blue Heron, and Green Heron. This is an incredible place to photograph and a superb place for a workshop.

Group leader Ron Modra worked 27 years as a staff photographer for Sports Illustrated amassing over 70 covers! Check out my website at: http://www.ronaldcmodra.com/.
He is also a member of the Lensmen Project along with his good friend, country music star, Ronnie Dunn: www.lensmenproject.com

"The Alligator Farm and Zoological Park is such a target rich environment and filled with action from sunrise to sunset. I spent just one day there during the peak of the rookery in 2021 and made hundreds of keeper images. One of the great things about this location is that you don’t have to have a big lens to shoot with. Some of the nests are literally within reach of the elevated walkway. So whether you like to shoot birds in flight or you just want to see chicks hatching in front of you, there is always something to shoot. We will also be shooting at a secondary location on private property as part of the workshop. If you have any questions about our locations or what to bring, feel free to reach out to me at 865-607-2020."

- Patrick Murphy-Racey, Sony Artisan of Imagery.
