Flame Zapper Kotsujin is a shmup developed by CO2-Pro, which apparently was comprised of just two developers. I only found out about this game when looking up PC-98 emulator instructions the other day, and I saw this and thought "wow, this looks really neat from the screenshot, wonder how it plays", and then I started playing it. It feels really nice to control, it looks incredible compared to some of the other games on the hardware (it kind of reminded me of Cho Ren Sha 68K in that regard), and the difficulty feels just right! The music is also really good, so don't be surprised if I do a remix or two from this game. Just about the only nitpicks I have with this are that it tends to freeze for a moment when loading a boss, or that it tries to force the homing laser weapon on you in certain stages (not that it's unhelpful or anything, but sometimes I don't want the blue noodle!). Fun game, highly recommend it if you're looking for a shmup on the PC-98!

Its Chrono Triggers 30th Anniversary! As such, I wanted to get a remix of To Far Away Times done in time for the anniversary! I went with a PC-98 remix since a VRC6 remix already exists by the immensely talented FearOfDark. I also experimented with using more Rhythm commands in the I channel to add a bit more punch. Hope you enjoyed this!

Mina the Hollower is FINALLY out! This has been one of my most anticipated games for the last couple of years, and Im so excited to finally play it! I had something else scheduled to go up today, but I figured since I had the time Id whip up a quick remix of Crypt Road in the Game Boy style. Of course, I wasnt expecting the game (and more importantly, the soundtrack) to release early, and not only did it have the official song name, this song had some changes compared to the old version. As such, I had to edit it late last night to better match the final version and correct a few errors. It may be somewhat of a rush job, but hopefully it turned out alright! Now if youll excuse me, Im gonna lock myself away so I can play this game in full!

For this song, I decided to do something a little different! PPMCK is a tool that compiles MML data into a format the NES and Famicom can read. Im admittedly not that well versed in PPMCK, which is why I wanted to try to fix that in case I need to use it for something else. Im not giving up Famitracker, by the way, but I figured I wanted to experiment a bit. Hope this turned out alright, in any case!

Its Xenoblades 15th anniversary, so I decided to remix one of its songs to celebrate! I was wracking my brain on what song to do, but I ultimately settled on Unfinished Business since thats one of the lesser-played tracks from the game. Hope it turned out alright!

I ended up playing through Metal Gear 2 last week, finally! While I dont think I prefer it to the games that followed, I can definitely see traces of what Metal Gear would become. It also happens to hold up pretty well! ...Not that me playing this would have any impact on me doing another Metal Gear 2 cover to cap off the Year of the Snake. No fake-outs this time, this IS the last remix I had planned for the year! I hope you enjoyed it!
As per usual, I will be going on break after this video. Unless prior obligations get in the way, I should be back to posting new remixes on January 23rd! Hope to see you then, and have a Happy New Year!
