Yooooo merry-almost-christmas my Typhonians! šāļøš²
Christmas or winter time is just the best. The cold weather, the Christmas decorations, the food, the clothes. I adore this time of year and every single time it rolls around, I always get so excited thinking about what songs I could remix!
This time around though, with college being something Iām doing now. I realized that like a couple days into December that I still hadnāt chosen any Christmas songs to remix. I didnāt wanna miss out on this time of year so I started thinking super hard of some of my favorite video game winter tunes. A couple came to mindā¦ but then I remembered one that just opened the flood gates of nostalgia. Flake, from the Festive Mashup pack on the Xbox 360 version of Minecraft. I have so many memories on this map man. Playing it with my friend at his house since he had an Xbox 360 and I didnāt. As I was making this video, I didnāt want to draw a thumbnail because I donāt feel like I would be able to capture the essence the original map has. So I downloaded it, put it in Minecraft and took some pictures. As I was going around, I could see memories flashing right before me. The big tree in the middle, Santaās workshop up top the hill, the huge railway going all the way around the map. Taking the pictures was awesome. I tried to make the video like a slideshow of important landmarks in the map, itās like a consecutive story. I hope that as you guys watch that memories start coming back to you and remind you of some good times. We are still in those good times guys, making memories every single day and we donāt even realize it. Enjoy it while it lasts my friends š
As for the music. The main part of this video haha. I feel like I took a lot of inspiration from my āTHE HOLYā remix from Deltarune. It kind of gives me the same vibe and that remix is one of my favorites that Iāve made. I took alot of creative liberties when remixing Flake. I added a lot more elements which Iām sure youāll hear by now. The bass is one that I wanted to make very interesting. Usually I donāt go too crazy on bass melodyās but this time it felt right because not much is going on in the main melody of the track. Adding lots of percussion really fills the space and gives the song that groove that accents it. I really enjoyed working with all the bell sounds in the mix. There are seriously so many and the Roland D-50 has some crazy bell patches that worked perfectly. I say my favorite instruments in the mix def have to be the Handbells and Sax. For some reason, whenever I think of Christmas music, all I imagine is a saxophone. So I just had to add one. Maybe you guys relate too and that sax just made ur experience even better! I truly hope so haha. But yeah, overall, had lots of fun remixing this song and giving my past a āmakeoverā of sorts. Have a merry Christmas and a happy new year my friends.
