Before I can install the gear pump on the lathe, I need to fix a potential problem with the gear pump.
Since it is a bidirectional pump, and the lathe can spin in two directions, there will be times where the pump will be pumping in the wrong direction. With the way that it will be set up it will either run dry or cause excess pressure to the tubing and possibly blow it off the nozzles.
What I need to make is a bypass line with a non return valve to relieve the pressure and stop it running dry. Only problem is that I only have a tiny amount of space to make it work, and the off the shelf model would be too big.
