This week's video features Aiden, a 4y/o Haflinger who was sent to me to be started under saddle. Aiden is a very smart but reactive horse, so I decided to take him out in the world to keep him challenged and interested in his work.
The video shows a completely unedited first ride out after 16 days under saddle.
I love training horses, and starting horses under saddle "colt starting" has been one of my favourite activities. I try to set the young horse up for a long and happy career as a ridden horse by establishing some foundations that they can carry with them through their life. I am very proud of this boy and his zest for life. 🥰

You need to have a good, stable leg position while riding your horse to give your horse correct and reproducible leg aids. If you cant do this, you risk confusing your horse, and then the horse has no chance of doing what you request of him. In this video, I explain what the correct leg position looks like. First, I explain the classically correct leg position, then I tell you about the 2 most common faults riders have with their leg position, and then if you wait until the end, I give you a tip on leg pressure.
This horse riding lesson is for beginners through to advanced riders. If you want to train your horse you need to have a correct horse rider position as it is your most valuable asset.
