Stop scrolling—because America’s new fastest train is here, and Daily Drop was on the inaugural ride. Meet the NextGen Acela. This isn’t just a fresh coat of paint… it’s a whole new chapter for U.S. train travel. The first thing you’ll notice is 27% more seating—but it still feels open and airy. The cabins are brighter, the ride is smoother, and these massive windows make everything feel bigger. Beyond the fresh design, the new seats are definitely different. Instead of reclining backward, the bottom slides forward which is great news for the person sitting behind you, but not ideal if you’re trying to nap. But you also get built-in cup holders, a leg rest, and plenty of room to stretch out. In business class, it’s a 2-2 layout including four-seat clusters with a proper dining table in the middle—perfect for groups. And first class takes it a step further with a 1-2 configuration for even more space. Beyond the visible hard product, the tech also got an upgrade! Every seat has power outlets, USB ports, reading lights, and 5G Wi-Fi that actually works. On Benji’s ride, the Wi-Fi clocked over 90 Mbps—fast enough to stream without a problem which is a serious glow-up from the days when you could barely load an email. Speaking of speed, the trains clock in with the top speed of 160 mph, although it's unlikely you'll see them zipping around that quickly since just like the previous generation, they're restricted by track they run on. Also, like the previous generation, the NextGen Acela will run on the Northeast Corridor from Boston to DC. It’s still a far cry from the Japanese Shinkansen and most European lines, but it is definitely a step in the right direction.
