Irelandscapes | First Cut On The Ards, County Down - (Traditional N Irish Grass Harvest Documentary & Scenery) @Irelandscapes | Uploaded July 2021 | Updated October 2024, 1 hour ago.
The tempo and energy of long days' farm work is hard to beat. A meet up with local farmers Maurice Patton, Isaac McKee and Isaac Moore as they take part on a June 'hilage' grass harvest for horse winter feed. This is the first cut of the Summer and a team effort as these North Down farmers pull resources to get the job done in a day on the Patton Farm. Why not check out the allotments and farm shop if you are in the Ards area? Farm machinery may have adapted to bigger farms and faster production rates, but essentially it is still very much a hands-on role requiring long hours and cooperation to get things done.
