I don't know why I left a step out for making the hinge. What I did was take a single large rectangle of faux leather (think of a large band-aid). I layed it over the open hinge area (think of a large cut). I then turned the edges under as I tacked down the rectangle. On the back side, they should almost touch. Make sure the added piece makes an airtight patch. This will be your hinge.
