At Lake Whitney State Park, RC aircraft pilots come together to enjoy the thrill of flying. Their planes race, dive, and glide through the air. It’s a hobby built on fun, friendship, and the simple joy of watching a plane take flight.
Lone Star Land Steward: Cowden Ranch - 12:14
Lou and Tim Edwards' Cowden Ranch rises to the heights of Gomez Peak in the Davis Mountains and stretches into the lowlands of the Delaware Basin. This gracious couple opens their ranch to an annual hunt for youth to come experience West Texas and mule deer hunting that few get the opportunity to experience. The Edwards’ are welcoming hosts and excellent land stewards on a property that has been operated for almost 100 years by Lou’s family.
The Giants of Caddo Lake - 17:00
Biologists continue their battle against giant salvinia, an invasive aquatic plant that threatens Texas lakes and fisheries. To protect Caddo Lake from devastation, they are enlisting the help of local conservation groups and a horde of tiny insects.
