Finty won third prize with composition ‘The Golden Days’, in the Off the Page category for Guildhall Young Artists competition 'RELEASE'.

Finty, from Guildhall Young Artists Norwich says: “I created The Golden Days with the aim to create a piece reminiscent of the tone created by the rise of jazz saxophone in 1920, and the sound created in that era. I wanted to utilise this sound and create a piece that contained new modernistic ideas. I create the majority of my work completely unplanned and improvised and with this piece I used only first takes to capture all imperfections. I feel this is what makes an utterly original and free piece that is inimitable."

The category judge for Off the Page was Scott Stroman, Jazz Professor at Guildhall School.
