Today I'm experimenting with lighting and atmosphere in Unreal Engine 5.
In this video I'm adjusting the lighting to create a more emotional and dream-like mood using the Ultra Dynamic Sky plugin. The original recording was about 40 minutes, but I condensed it into a 10-minute timelapse.
I'm exploring how lighting can change the feeling of a place. Warmer light, softer fog and a sunset atmosphere can transform the scene into something more reflective and surreal.
This environment is part of a personal project I'm working on, where atmosphere and environment help support emotional moments in the story. In this scene the world begins to feel less realistic, a bridge appears above the clouds and the character walks through the sky, almost like a memory or a dream.
I'm still experimenting and trying to find the right mood for this moment.
I'm also curious about something:
Do you enjoy watching these kinds of development timelapses, or would you prefer more tutorial-style videos about Unreal Engine and lighting?
Let me know in the comments 🙂
