The HPI Baja is one of the very first RC vehicles that truly got me to obsess over RC, and it also initiated the fun ride that you are currently still witnessing. I picked this Baja up for my friend Stefan, who is as big an RC enthusiast as I am and also has a true soft spot for these 5th scale monsters from years past.
The HPI Baja entered the scene first in 2006, and was ground breaking in design, size and performance. Most likely this particular vehicle is from 2007 or 2008, but it has all the styling elements and styling cues from the original version, and it looks like time stood still. Brand new, in box, bags never opened, never been run. A unique find, and a true honor to be able to grant myself and you a closer look at what I believe to be the pinnacle of HPI, or Hobby Products International. I hope you will enjoy this trip down memory lane as much as I did.

San Francisco, California, right under the towering heights of the Golden Gate Bridge, with in the distance the faint contours of Alcatraz, the most notorious prison in history. If anything makes for a great post apocalyptic backdrop, it is this type of scenery. I took the UltraFord Axial RR10 Bomber for a spin, kick up roosts, clouds of dust, the suspension soaking up the jumps. This Rock Racer never ceases to amaze me with its capabilities and the amount of abuse it takes.
Powered by a Castle Creations Mamba X, combined with a Castle 1406 3800kV Slate Series motor, it has tons of torque and speed, the Vanquish Method rims transferring all the power to the insanely grippy Proline Hyrax 2.2 tires. And of course rocking the classic Proline Ford F100 SCX10 Honcho body.
