Not all of our ideas for our books are diamonds. As Robert McKee says in Story, about 10% of stuff we come up with will be our best. That means, when brainstorming, every 1 out of 10 ideas or solutions might be good. Whether it's a book idea or a solution to a complex story problem, don't we want to write the best novels possible?

After brainstorming comes creative choices time! How do you evaluate your novel's ideas? How do you figure out what would actually make your story stronger? Instinct is great, but I find it useful to think through things a bit more analytically before getting back into the flow state of the writing itself.
