We are so close! This is a big step to finally bolt the battery modules together into the tray. I'm re-using the original steel tray. This is exactly how the lithium cells were bolted together originally.

2013 Smart Fortwo EV electric vehicle.

The tray itself was dirty from being on the underside of a car. The first step was scrubbing the tray clean.
