I've had this sat recorded for almost 3 years now (and still haven't got back to FFX-2), I didn't have a PS2 until late 2010, and bought that just for FFX and FFXII. I got up to a certain three phase boss and gave up then, but came back with this Remaster to right that.

I think the only content I don't show is postgame grinding to max out the Sphere Grid - which would be kind of pointless considering how much of it there is, but this is a Platinum Trophy Playthrough.

After the introduction you're in control of Tidus in Zanarkand about to play some Blitzball when Sin attacks, you team up with Auron and learn quickly about Overdives and the turn absed system - which is conditional based on delays/quick hits/some of your own powerful attacks delaying your turn.

You awake after being sucked up and have to siwm down until Tidus wakes up again in some ruins.

Head to the NE on to some dry ruins to find a strange language and nab the 200 Gil behind it. To the NW you'll find out the language is Al Bhed and there's a chest to the S with 2 Potions.

Head through to the next area with a save point and take the obvious fork for a Hi-Potion. Follow the path along until you fall in the water and you'll hear the Battle Theme for the first time before it changes to the Boss Theme as Geosgaeno arrives.

Just attack, you can't win this, even if you cheat to try and win.
Tidus will flee in the cutscenes into the ruins.

Head to the SW for a Save Point and through the N room for a Withered Bouquet and an Ether in a chest. In the SW there's Flint. In the NE there's an X-Potion, back through the N there's another chest with a Hi-Potion. Afterwards head to the X for a cutscene as Tidus lights the fire.

Tidus will be ambushed by the Klikk and you'll have another boss.
After a couple of turns one of the doors is blown open and guys in masks burst in, with the girl in the front joining you. Steal from Klikk to get more Grenades then lob some at it to speed the fight up.

After the battle she takes off her mask, and the men speak a foreign language, which you can assume to be Al Bhed by the colouring. The girl then gives them orders and knocks you out.
You wake up on their ship at sea, and the girl reveals she can speak your language too. You're allowed to stay, provided you can be useful.

In the NE you can find your first primer and reveal that Y = A.

Speak to the NW guy to get a Potion and then speak to the girl to get the tutorial on the Sphere Grid. The fact the girl has a Sphere Grid should tell you she's probably going to be at least a semi-permanent party member. Characters start at different points on the grid, but can activate every node once the barriers on the grid have been unlocked. The characters will start off feeling like classic Job Archetypes before taking a second path to diversify, and eventually having them all. They will still feel unique because of Overdrives and unique Equipment.

Speak to the girl and we'll have our first mission to investigate some Salvage. Consider fighting the Piranhas to grind for their Grenade steal and Sphere drops. A single Piranha can drop Power Spheres, a duo Mana Spheres, and a trio Speed Spheres. They also have a rare Ability Sphere drop, which didn't seem that rare to me.

After a level up I follow the route onwards to the Underwater Ruins. Follow the path and interact with the machine and on the way out you'll be ambushed by Tros.

You ideally want to get the Power Spheres drop (although not essential). You'll need to constantly pummel it with Grenades and tank the second Nautilus Charge to prevent a Pincer Attack - which locks out the Power Sphere drop. Tidus won't be able to attack when it moves, and this is another mechanic to get used to.

Leave the now lit up Ruins and back to the Salvaage Ship.
There's a scene where the girl introduces herself as Rikku and she reveals that Zanarkand was destroyed 1,000 years ago, but Blitzball as a sport is still played. I save and end the part.
