Even if you don't care for the other Genji equipment, you _must_ fight him here for a chance to get the Genji Shield later on.
よし ここからは本気で戦わしてもらうぜ! ギルガメッシュチェーンジ!! "Very well—from now on, allow me to fight in full earnest! Gilgamesh change!" (Sounds a lot less obnoxious than EN, doesn't it.)
Exdeath is a cheat! (Banish ignores instant death immunity but misses heavy enemies, like Gilgamesh here; it's effectively an inverse Death.)

![Final Fantasy VI [PC] - Earth Dragon #2
Maybe it prefers symphonic rock instead? Final Fantasy VI [PC] - Earth Dragon #2](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/xh4bKWdyajI/mqdefault.jpg)
![Final Fantasy V [PC] (LLG 2/1/1/4) - Titan
He has a Gaia Hammer rare steal, a late-game weapon (!) that boosts earth-elemental damage by 50% and has a 25% chance of casting Earthquake. Of course, this doesnt really matter in a LLG, and is probably not worth it in a normal one either. Final Fantasy V [PC] (LLG 2/1/1/4) - Titan](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/yAhV4K4tusA/mqdefault.jpg)
![Final Fantasy VI [PC] - Skull Dragon #1
It really is just Dungeons & Dragons!
The Crusader esper seems to be fragments and/or (more direct) aspects of the Warring Triads power. Final Fantasy VI [PC] - Skull Dragon #1](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/yDjxBsRQtLg/mqdefault.jpg)

![Final Fantasy VI [PC] - Fiend
Aka Sephiroth (manifestations of capital-G God in the material world). …yes, the main antagonist of FFVII is named after the same concept. Well, he does have a god-complex.
Its the ONLY enemy in the game that uses Stragos Force Field Lore (sets all damage dealt and healed by a specified type to 0 [this overrides absorption]), so completionists should bring him to this fight. Locke and/or Gogo too, if you want that Safety Bit. (Admittedly you can get infinite Safety Bits anyway, but the RNG luck required for that is even worse, and its not strictly necessary.)
Also, as pointed out by a Japanese comment, this may have been an inspiration for the Kingdom Hearts villain Ansems infamous guardian (properly called the Dark Figure). Of course, Nomura was the original designer of the Triad in the first place… Final Fantasy VI [PC] - Fiend](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/zObcA7A7pDk/mqdefault.jpg)
![Final Fantasy VI [PC] - Orthros #1
The mythical two-headed hound Orthros (kin to Cerberus) guarded the cattle of Geryon in the uttermost west. Who knows why hes an octopus in this game. Final Fantasy VI [PC] - Orthros #1](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/zP4s5PIiuks/mqdefault.jpg)
![Final Fantasy VI [PC] - Demon
Aka Zurvan (lord of infinity in the Persian splinter religion of Zurvanism).
鬼神 (fierce god) as a concept has no real Western equivalent; theyre frequently associated with violence, but arent necessarily evil as such (eg. the wrathful deities of Buddhism, who destroy obstacles barring the path to enlightenment; there might be truly malevolent examples somewhere); notable pop culture references include the Fierce Deitys Mask from the Legend of Zelda and Luffys Gear 4 forms from One Piece (that he was able to create those forms despite working with misleading info is rather telling…). I personally wouldve gone with daemon (note the a) as a translation, albeit with the caveat that its not fully accurate either. ![Final Fantasy VI [PC] - Tentacles
Unfortunately the bottom-left tentacle is (seemingly) immune to instant death in this version. Also, fuck it, I dont care if this is suboptimal. (It isnt immune in the PR version either, so I have no idea what was with the constant misses in previous recordings.) Referring to the esper you can grab afterward. While using the Banish trick forfeits its Guard Bracelet drop due to how the battle ends, a) you can steal them from a random encounter in the final dungeon, and b) theyre not that useful anyway. (Well, you can turn them into Heros Rings in the colosseum, if you want more.) If you dont want to use that cheeseball strat, set Invisible status on your characters beforehand; Fury is a magic attack, so the possessed character will become visible. Berserk its minions so they cant cast magic (which muddles that strat up). Ive heard the Banish trick doesnt work in the Pixel Remaster, so theres that.
Nice scene and all, but Cyan is STILL probably the worst character gameplay-wise. Final Fantasy VI [PC] - Alexsoul](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/zeLjJI3t39c/mqdefault.jpg)
