Hello and welcome to the end of Round 1 of the Fighting 50 competition, based off of Produce 101 with a splash of SIXTEEN.
Finally, results for Round 1 are here!! Are you excited?! I know I am! The participants all worked incredibly hard in Round 1. We had people dropping out last minute (literally), people getting quite sick and still fighting through to record, people trying new parts they were uncomfortable with and doing fantastically...it was a very exciting round!
I have the pleasure of seeing these wonderful people in their group chats working together, and it's been absolutely amazing! I hope the participants are enjoying it as much as I am!
In this round, participants gained points a few ways. Like the preliminary round, each judge (there's 5 of us! :)) had 100 points split up into different categories, including pitch and pronunciation. On top of that, there were two groups doing the same song. One of those teams could win bonus points from the judges for our favorite overall, and one team was also able to win points for having the most views, comments and likes.
Lastly, as I said in the very beginning, there will be random bonuses thrown in throughout the competition to keep everyone on their feet!
This round, I gave out a big chunk of points to who I considered to be the top overall performer. She not only sounded fantastic in her song, but she was a great leader and teammate as well. I think her team would agree with me!
Our other bonus went to the person who climbed up the most ranks. You will soon see she was the only one to jump three ranks (from F to B).
Finally, we decided as a judging panel to give a team a small bonus for having the biggest challenge overall. Not everyone on the team had it, but they were, overall, the lowest ranked team and had one of the hardest vocals to cover in their song. We felt they worked incredibly hard and showed they could do much more than even they knew they could accomplish. Because of that, we felt they deserved something extra.
To those who did not pass, I know it was only a few of you, but don't feel sad. You all did wonderfully and the judges felt you all have already improved. Keep doing your best and learning and you will go far!
