Before-and-after comparisons of shots where Ana was digitally replaced with Po in the FIFTY SHADES OF TUBBY movie trailer mashup.
Most of the VFX work was done in Adobe After Effects. Po was extracted from Teletubbies footage using the RotoBrush tool (a process that takes between 1 and 2 hours of work for every 1 second of original footage). Where Ana was moving across a scene, she could be removed by splicing together regions of the shot from different points in time. But where Ana was stationary, a new Ana-less region of the background had to be created in Photoshop (using Content Aware Fill and a lot of cutting and pasting). To allow all these doctored elements to combine together seamlessly, camera motion also had to be removed from some scenes. And for scenes that fade in or fade out, the fading of the new elements had to be exactly matched.
