Staccato is the term used for separated notes indicated with dots over or under the note. On a bowed instrument we play staccato leaving the bow on the instrument and for spiccato the bow bounces. The secret to getting a good staccato is to release the pressure between the notes. Practice using a circular half moon motion with your arm and or hand.
If you have an idea for a Fiddleman Q & A, make a video playing or just speaking, using any camera at your disposal, and use a file transferring site such as sprend.com, dropsend.com, dropbox, to pierre@fiddlerman.com
Please do not send the files directly to my email as video files tend to be too large.
